In Cunit we bring face painting to the carnival troupes at Carnival, a Christmas adventure to schools and local groups, and a princess with her story to birthdays at home. It is the Penedès town closest to us.
Its summer Festa Major is that of Sant Cristòfol, patron saint of drivers: there is a mass with a blessing of vehicles, and the festival says goodbye with fireworks on the beach. The programme has even included a foam party and a duel between the Gegant de l'Aigua and the Gegant del Foc, the water giant and the fire giant. Amid so much splashing about, face painting is the quiet moment of the afternoon.
At Carnival, the parade sets off from the station with dozens of floats, and on the Monday there is a children’s confetti party. With the Ajuntament de Cunit and a dog rescue association, we have already put on a day of face painting and costumed characters here.
And in December, The Christmas Mission sets the whole audience to work getting back the Christmas the Grinch has taken.
When is it party time here?

How long does it take us to get here?
We set off from Vilanova i la Geltrú: Cunit is about 12 km away, under 20 minutes by car.

Can you set up bouncy castles on the beach in Cunit?
The beach bylaw reserves areas for inflatables next to breakwaters 1, 2, 4 and 6, with no inflatables over 3.5 m, and any one-off set-up on the sand needs permission from Costas, the coastal authority, at least 30 days in advance. For a birthday, a garden is better.
And with music, on the beach?
The same bylaw limits music on the sand to 65 dB(A), so what fits best there is whatever needs no volume: face painting and balloon twisting. And from March to September the Kentish plover nests on the sand.

It falls on 20 January, with the Christmas decorations only just put away: it is the moment for indoor plans, like face painting and balloon twisting or a show in the sports hall or the local group’s hall.
