This one at leastis not that boring.

The law asks us to tell you who we are, what we do with what you tell us and which cookies we hand out. We are glad it does, because it gives us an excuse to show you something we are rather proud of: there are no pop-ups here, no cookies tracking you, and you will not get a single email you did not ask for.

Before we start

Who actually read it

Our unicorn was not born for this. Glitter, loud music and saying yes: that is more its line.

But it read the whole thing

The day came to read the European regulation and it read every word, with three colours of highlighter and a set of sticky notes that were not needed at all. So now it knows by heart the article that keeps our two cookies out of the banner. We let it write this page. It runs long, because it loves explaining itself.

Chapter 1

What you tell us

Everything we know about you, you wrote to us yourself: in the form, on WhatsApp or by email. There are no other sources.

Your name and a way to reach you

It is the thread your quote arrives on.

Email, phone or both, whichever suits you. It is used to send you the quote and to let you know about anything to do with the party in hand. You will never get spam or newsletters you did not sign up for. Legal basis: you asked us, when you requested more information about our services.

The day, the time and where

The date, the time slot and the postcode when you ask for a quote; the exact address once there is a booking and we have to get there. We work out the travel from the postcode, and the name of the town is stored in your browser.

How many of you and what ages

At nine years old, whether the show is princesses, superheroes or K-pop changes absolutely everything.

The number of guests decides the format and the age decides the show. If it is a birthday, you tell us how old the birthday child is.

Whatever you want to tell us

The best parties start with an "oh, and one more thing…".

The forms have a space to write in your own words: the shows you like, how you picture the party and anything you want to add. It is optional. We read it to fine-tune the quote and it is stored with your request, for as long as the request is. Whatever the party needs is plenty.

If you ask us to call you

You choose when the phone rings.

On the contact page you leave us your name, your phone number and the three times that suit you for a call, with any comments you want to add. The phone number is used for that call and for whatever comes out of it about your party. Legal basis: you asked us, when you requested the call.

If you send a postcard

From the postcard we keep only the fact that it was sent and through which channel, so we know whether people like the idea. The name of the sender and of the recipient travel inside the link itself, and that link stays between you.

What the browser reports on its own

It serves one deeply unglamorous, very necessary purpose: keeping spam out, because spam finds unicorns too.

With each request we also store which page you came from, which pages you saw during that visit and a code calculated from your IP that cannot be turned back into it. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping this working and safe.

The little heroes

When a child's name or age reaches us, it comes from you, as their parent or responsible adult, and we use it only to prepare their party. Photos and video from the day of the show are covered by our booking terms.

Chapter 2

What is yours alone

This list took us considerably more work than the one above, and it is the one we really wanted to show you.

All of this stays with you

The exact address of the party, until there is a booking and we have to park. Your IP, which turns into a code before it comes in and arrives unrecognisable. Which other pages you visit, today or any day. Whether you came back this afternoon or had not dropped by for a month. Your age, your income, your bank, your face, your neighbourhood. What you searched for before you found us.

There is not a single cookie here that tracks or monitors your browsing.

Chapter 3

Where everything sleeps

Six places, and the first one is in your house.

Your backpack

Your browser's storage holds the list of shows you are collecting, your score in the game on the About page, the draft of your quote so it is still there if you close the page in a hurry (30 days) and the town from your postcode (6 months). None of that is a cookie and none of it makes the trip to Germany: it stays with you, and we have no way of opening your backpack. If the computer belongs to the whole family and you want your quote to stay yours, empty it on your way out.

Our inbox

What you write arrives in our inbox and that is where we reply. It is read by the same person who will be throwing your party. The email provider supplies the mailbox and works on our instructions, under the same obligations we have.

A cabinet in Nuremberg

Treasure maps always end on a beach, with a crooked palm tree and an X. Ours ends on a German industrial estate. Less photogenic, considerably safer.

Our server lives in a Netcup cabinet in Nuremberg, European Union territory, and inside it live the site and its database. That is where your party's file sleeps: what you told us, what you chose and what we quoted. We hold the key; Netcup provides the walls, the power and the fans, and has signed that it touches nothing of what is inside. In the story it would be the friendly giant who rents out the cave and very politely looks the other way.

The invoice

If there is a booking there is an invoice, and the invoice carries your name into the accounts and from there to the tax authorities when the law requires it.

The backups

Backups are locked before they leave here and stored on Google Drive. Google keeps the parcel and the key stays home. If a backup leaves the European Union, it travels with the safeguards the GDPR requires.

If you choose WhatsApp

If you choose to talk on WhatsApp, that conversation goes through WhatsApp (Meta), which has its own policy and its own rules. It is an optional stop: email and phone arrive at the same place.

In short

Your data is not sold, not handed over and not rented out: the providers on this list process it on our instructions, under contract.

Chapter 4

The cleaning calendar

The unicorn does not like hoarding things. It learned the techniques of perfect tidying and cleaning from Marie Kondo.

How long each thing stays

If there was a party

6 years from your last Disparate

Set by tax and commercial law, and not even unicorns argue with the tax office.

If there was none in the end

2 years from your enquiry

In case you come back next year and would rather skip the paperwork. After two years, it says goodbye.

Visit statistics

90 days

No cookies and no stored IP: they count visits, not people.

Technical logs

up to 8 weeks

Your IP and browser stay in the server logs, which is how the server defends itself.

Backups

up to 6 months

They travel locked. What we let go of is let go of there too as they are renewed.

Chapter 5

The two crumbs

The real biscuits get handed out at the parties. Here there are just two crumbs, and both hold the house up.

Both of them, and no more

Both are technical and necessary, so we do not ask you about them with a banner: article 22.2 of the LSSI leaves them outside consent. And there are no others: no Analytics, no pixels, no advertising, no third parties looking over your shoulder.

Counting heads, not names

We count the way you count at a party: how many there are, not whose they are.

To know which pages work we measure without cookies, and a new key is used every day, so tomorrow we could not recognise you even if we fancied it. If your browser asks not to be tracked, we listen and count nothing.

On the quote page we also count how long each screen takes and where people stop, with a number that only exists while your tab is open. If you end up sending it, that path travels with your request; if not, it stays a nameless tally. And sometimes, by draw, Cuca does not offer you help: that is how we know whether helping you is any use.

Yes, that means our statistics are worse than almost everyone else's. But we prefer them that way.

The mirror that arranges the window

It does not say who is the fairest of them all: it just puts what probably suits you at the front.

The quote page looks at whether you arrived on a phone or a computer, in which language, where you came from and how far through the form you are. That is worked out inside your own browser and its result never travels to our server. It changes the order of the options and nothing else: whichever you pick, you pick, always.

Chapter 6

Ask, and it comes back

It is yours, so asking is enough. No spells, no form and no waiting for a full moon.

One email and that is it

You can ask us to show it to you, correct it, erase it, take it elsewhere, limit its use, object to it and withdraw at any time a permission you had given us. Write to cuca@disparate.show and say what you want. If we need to check it is really you, we will ask, and that is all. The same person who answered you the first time answers again.

And if you think we got it wrong

You can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency at aepd.es. We would love it if you gave us the chance to put it right first, which is usually quicker.

Any questions before you write to us? Write anyway: we reply in under 24 h and we reply ourselves.
