From cava to fairy tales,Sant Sadurní
In Sant Sadurní we take stories with the audience inside them to schools, libraries and local groups, and face painting and balloon twisting to birthdays at home. Here the Festa Major falls in November, in the thick of the cava season, so the big party comes with a coat on.
The best-known festival in the capital of cava is named after a vine pest. La Fil·loxera, born in 1982, has a small version: thirty fil·loxeretes, a children’s cercavila, the festive parade, and, on the night of the 8th, a flight of yellow handkerchiefs.
The Festa Major is another matter: in the seventies there was an attempt to move it to June, without the slightest success. A winter festival calls for indoor plans, and that is where stories come into their own: Rapunzel stepping out of the book to tell her version, or a rainbow that everyone builds together. We take them to the library, the school or the local group.
For a birthday at home, face painting and balloon twisting with four hands at work: in November, the living room is more welcome than the garden.

What people ask us
The Fil·loxera Infantil cercavila is in the morning. What can we set up in the afternoon?
A Face Painting & Balloons corner in the square, with a wristband so nobody waits on their feet. And if you want the yellow of the handkerchiefs on your faces, ask for it in good time.
Will a storytelling session fit in a municipal hall?
Yes: all it takes is a clear space of about 5 × 5 m, with a 2.5 m ceiling, and a socket. The hall is something to check with the town council.
What is the Three Kings parade like in Sant Sadurní?
It sets off on the afternoon of 5 January towards the plaça de l'Església, and it has had a quiet stretch, with no sweets and soft music, for the children who need it.
